 "Simulation numérique des propriétés thermo-radiatives des matériaux :
apport des approches ab initio et atomistiques"

Cette journée SFT, initiée par les GDR ACCORTet MODMAT,a pour but de faire un point sur l’intérêt des approches ab initio (Théorie de la Fonctionnelle de la Densité,…), et atomistiques (Dynamique Moléculaire,...) pour la détermination des propriétés thermo-radiatives des matériaux en conditions réelles d’usage. Ces approches, requérant au préalable de connaitre l’organisation de la matière à l’échelle atomique, font aujourd’hui l’objet d’un fort développement tant en chimie du solide qu’en physique de la matière condensée. Les méthodes ab initio permettent de reproduire ainsi les propriétés optiques de divers composés (TiO2 par exemple) pour un domaine spectral couvrant le visible et l’Ultra-Violet. Les méthodes atomistiques sont plus connues pour calculer les conductivités thermiques dues aux vibrations de réseau ce qui ouvre la porte au calcul des propriétés radiatives dans l’infrarouge lointain. Est-il envisageable de concevoir une démarche novatrice permettant de reproduire les propriétés thermo-radiatives pour la gamme spectrale du rayonnement thermique en partant de ces approches « phononiques » et « électroniques » ? La journée vise donc à réunir théoriciens, modélisateurs et expérimentateurs exerçant leurs activités aujourd’hui aux frontières de disciplines telles que la chimie, la physique, la thermique, la combustion ou encore le génie des procédés. Cette journée se proposera de dresser des pistes de coopérations futures dans le souci de développer des méthodes numériques multi-échelles robustes permettant d’accélérer la mise en oeuvre de nouveau matériaux à propriétés thermo-radiatives contrôlées : conversion de l’énergie solaire, management thermique, optimisation de procédés de formage, lutte contre les incendies,…

The Eurotherm seminar 108 is organized by LEMTA under the auspices of Société Française de Thermique and will be held at the Petros M. Nomikos Conference Centre situated at Fira, the capital of Santorini island in GREECE.

Fira is known for its unique view over the caldera and the volcano of Santorini, with a history over 4000 years. Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands of archipelago of Cyclades, situated in the southern Aegean Sea. Santorini is located approximately 200 km (120 miles) southeast of Athens. It can be easily accessed by plane (direct flights from Athens, and a lot of European cities: London, Brussels, Zurich, Vienna, Paris, Oslo, Amsterdam).
