Mathematical Modeling of a Batch-Operated Bubble Column Humidifier for Seawater Desalination

The development of innovative desalination techniques is crucial in response to the challenges posed by rapid urbanisation and growing pressures on freshwater supplies. This poster provides an overview of the potential of air humidification dehumidification systems (HDH), particularly when integrated with bubble column systems, to address these pressing issues. The poster outlines a mathematical model of a bubble column serving as a humidifier for desalination purposes. This study explores the fundamental aspects of bubble formation dynamics, including radial expansion and vertical rise, and discusses the forces influencing this process. Furthermore, it touches upon heat and mass transfer phenomena in the air-water system, aiming to contribute to the ongoing efforts to optimise desalination processes.
