Quantitative Micro and Nano-Thermal Imaging and Analysis
QMNTIA 2013

SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is a an opportunity to make the assessment on this research field in heat transfer at microscales and nanoscales.
All the usual heat transfer modes, involving the different states of matter are to be, as for instance :
- Conduction : phonon and electron transport phenomena, properties of thin films, micro and nano-structures...
- Radiation : emission of submicroscale structured surfaces, near-field heat transfer, influence of radiation in SPM (Scanning Probe Microscope)...
- Convection : nanofluids, convection around microstructures,...
- Experimental, Theoretical, modelling approaches will be considered, at both space and time level.
- Experimental development for characterization and analysis of materials or systems, for temperature measurement or imaging, for heat flux measurement…
- Thermal metrology
The development of electronic and optical microsystems as well as nanostructures leads to the renewal of thermal technologies adapted to sub-microscales. So, the experimental approach will be tackled : scanning probe microscopy, optical techniques, photothermal methods ….
The applications may concern a wide range of technologies : space, electronics, opto-electronics (MEMS...), heat exchangers with micro-structure, thermomechanical effect due to irradiation of solid surfaces, biology, polymer...
